A pretty fascinating New Yorker article about the battle between E.B. White and children's librarian Anne Moore over Stuart Little.

I read this. Its perhaps a bit strange seeming that a woman who does such good - making children's literature a real, available thing on such a grand scale - was more or less an awful person. She was a control freak which doesn't surprise me; many people who accomplish big, powerful things are control freaks.

Oops. And I wanted to add that I love the part of how he changes that one, very significant thing- making him arrive instead of being born. In some ways, that was my favorite bit from the article.
