God, I wish were at Cannes this year. In addition to the fact that films by some of my favorite directors are playing--new ones by Michael Haneke, Gaspar Noe, Tarantino, Alejandro Amenabar, and a vampire movie by Park Chan-Wook--it appears that a film by one of my least favorite directors has atrociously bombed. Wow.
And Time reviews the Park Chan-wook movie.

Ugh, do I loathe LVT.
Yes, this was a Cannes to miss. I'd pay large sums of money to see the new Haneke & Noe films right now.
Nick, have you seen "Cat Soup"?

Well, I didn't have time to watch all of that, but the five minutes I did watch were lovely and unnerving.
I'm no fan of von Trier, but ANTICHRIST looks damn good to me.
And I wouldn't say it bombed. The French critics hated it, but the American press has been surprisingly supportive. Whatever that means.
has von Trier ever not put out a let down? they always look nice on the frame, but are mostly retarded movies. 'the element of crime' is way better with the sound off.
jeeeesus, were you americans playing with your tetris while forming opinions of LVT films? am always baffled by people who know films but can't allow themselves to be in on the joke with LVT.
they jeered at the idiots, blogger. cannes doesn't recognise films that any more than a few viewings for their meanings to emerge. cannot wait for the antichrist, and i dig all the directors you mentioned, esp haneke.
have you seen europa?! startlement!!
